Letter template and general info, not legal advice. We're not a law firm. You send it and you decide.

What this is

Nice Try, Landlord (run by Arkvor, nicetrylandlord.com) is a self-serve tool that turns your answers into a draft letter asking a landlord to return a security deposit. It is a drafting tool. It is not a law firm, we are not lawyers, and nothing we provide is legal advice. Using it does not create a lawyer-client relationship.

Your responsibilities

  • Give true and accurate answers. The letter is only as good as what you tell us.
  • Confirm that every date, amount and charge you give us is accurate. We don't check your facts.
  • Read the letter before you send it. You decide whether and how to send it, and you are responsible for what it says.
  • Check the current law in your state and city. Rules change, and our summaries can be out of date or wrong.
  • Don't use the tool to harass anyone or make claims you know are false.

No guarantees

We don't promise your landlord will pay, or any outcome in court or anywhere else. The letter is a template filled in from your answers and a summary of state rules we check regularly, and the service is provided "as is".

Payment and refunds

The price is shown before you pay. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. If your letter doesn't arrive within 48 hours of sending your details, ask within 7 days of paying and we'll refund you in full. All other sales are final. Details in our refund policy.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything related to the service is capped at the amount you paid us for it. We're not responsible for what happens after you decide to send a letter, including how your landlord responds.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.
